NEWS: Oak Park Village Board approves resolution in support of MREA

On March 15, the Oak Park Village Board approved unanimously a resolution in support of the Military Readiness Enhancement Act (MREA), which abolishes Don't Ask, Don't Tell and allows gay and lesbian members of the military to serve openly. Trustee Ray Johnson introduced the resolution in support of MREA and spoke briefly at the board meeting encouraging all to contact their senators and representatives to support the act in Congress. Oak Park PFLAG members, who had pushed for the Village Board resolution in support of the act, attended the meeting. "We want to especially thank Trustee Johnson for introducing the resolution," said Oak Park PFLAG member Nancy Johnson.
