NEWS: PFLAG Oak Park wins Opal Award

On July 13 at the annual OPALGA Gala, PFLAG Oak Park was the proud recipient of the Oak Park Area Leadership (OPAL) award. The award was given in recognition of PFLAG Oak Park's "inspired leadership and outstanding commitment to the Gay and Lesbian Community." Attending the gala were a number of PFLAG Oak Park members, including president Kate Kroker, who accepted the award.

"It has been one of the goals of the Oak Park Area PFLAG Chapter to be active and visible in the pursuit of gay rights, not just in Oak Park but in the the larger community as well, so to be honored with an OPAL Award by OPALGA at their annual gala for that very thing was both rewarding and gratifying," says Kroker. "It was also gratifying to receive the thanks and congratulations from the various members both before and during the Gala itself. We are hoping for a better and more cooperative relationship with OPALGA as we pursue our common goals."
