NEWS: Farmers' Market redux

On Aug. 27, PFLAG Oak Park had a booth at the Oak Park Farmers' Market, selling bread and offering literature and information. The booth, which was open for the duration of the market, from 6 a.m. to noon, was such a success that PFLAG Oak Park has decided on a repeat performance on Saturday, Sept. 10. While the booth does raise money for the group, "I personally consider the PR to be the most important part," says PFLAG member Gy Menninga, noting that a wide range of people stopped by the booth, incuding many who were unaware of PFLAG's existance.

NEWS: Bread and info at Oak Park Farmers' Market

Oak Park PFLAG will be manning a booth at the Oak Park Farmers' Market on August 27. The PFLAG booth will be selling homemade bread, as well as offering brochures and general information about PFLAG and its goals. "PFLAG participates in this kind of event to be visible in the community and to help get the word out to people who need it," says PFLAG member Sylvia Menninga. The Farmers' Market, which is held outside Pilgrim Church, Lake & Ellwood, runs from 6 a.m. to noon on Saturdays from June to October.
