NEWS: April 21 showing of For The Bible Tells Me So

When Robin Voss attended a seminar at her Orange County church on "What the Bible Really Says About Homosexuality," she had prepared herself to hear condemnation and intolerance. What she found instead was a group of people determined to square their faith with their love of a gay friend or relative. Voss was so moved, she decided that more people needed to get the message, and the best medium was a film. The result is the award-winning 2007 documentary For the Bible Tells Me So, written and directed by Daniel Karslake and produced by Voss, among others. The film features five families, including those of former House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt and of Episcopal Bishop V. Gene Robinson. It also includes interviews with Bishop Desmond Tutu and Harvard Theologian Peter Gomes, among others.

The movie, which was released nationally in 2007, will be given a free showing on April 21 at 7 p.m. at the Conference Center at McHenry County College, 8900 W. Highway 14, Crystal Lake. The showing is sponsored with funding by the Northern Illinois PFLAG Council. For more information, call the Council at 773-935-2398.
